Give Your Kids Independence With A Toddler Step Stool
Published on September 4th, 2020.
Imagine how frustrating it is for a toddler when they can’t reach the counter or the sink. By their very nature, small children want to practice independence and have the ability to perform tasks by themselves. If they are thirsty, they demand to fill their own cup with juice. No matter the mess, they will beg to put together their own sandwiches. Toddlers know full well which cupboard the sweets and cookies are kept in, and want immediate access to them.
These little ones are simply not yet tall enough to do these sorts of things for themselves. They would even welcome the opportunity to wash their hands if they could perform the activity without having to rely on someone bigger to lift them up to the sink. Life can therefore be very frustrating for toddlers who know they need help for even the simplest things.
To enable small children to practice independence, purchase a toddler step stool to allow them to do more by themselves by putting items they need within their reach. Stools can be plain and unobtrusive or colorfully themed with Major League Baseball logos, Hello Kitty, Mr. Rodgers, Sesame Street or Barbie motifs and designs, all of which make them more attractive to little ones.
The variety of stools, sometimes referred to as step ups, include the themed ones just mentioned, as well as single step, two step, with built in storage capabilities and even personalized with your child’s name. Just as there are fancy models of cars, there are fancy types of toddler step stools which are more than just steps.
The Guidecraft Kitchen Helper might be classified as a deluxe model of step up. It is easy to simply fold up and store away in a small area because it was created with this purpose in mind. A raised platform design is a feature of the Guidecraft Kitchen Helper. Both your child and you will feel more confident with the model’s four sided railing and wider floor. toddler step stools are a great way to help your children learn independence as they’re able to do things for themselves. Think of all the help a toddler step stool will give children as they are able to reach the sink by themselves or use the light switch.
Your child will grow in independence with the help of a toddler step stool however, from now on, you might want to place the treats and cookies even higher in the cupboard!

Joys of a Toddler Step Stool
Published on July 28th, 2020.
Life is frustrating for people who are younger and aren’t tall enough to see over the kitchen counter. When you’re a toddler all you want is to learn how to do things by yourself. You want to pour your own juice. You want to make your own sandwiches. You desperately want to be able to help yourself to the cookies and treats that you know are in the kitchen cupboards. You want to be able to do these things, but you just aren’t tall enough. Heck, you’d be happy to be able to wash your own hands in the bathroom without having to have somebody lift you up so you can reach the sink. As a toddler you know these things, and it makes life kind of frustrating.
toddler step stools will help your toddler become more independent because more items are within their reach and they will be able to learn how to do more things for themselves. Create a splash around the house with a themed toddler step stools that features popular children’s characters like Hello Kitty, Maisy, Raggedy Ann, Mr. Rodgers and their favorite Major League Baseball team for little MLB fans. There are different types of step ups including single stepped toddler step stools, two stepped toddler step stools, toddler step stools that come with built in storage, themed toddler step stools and even personalized toddler step stools. There are also a couple of “deluxe” stools that are more than simple step ups.
One of these “deluxe” toddler step stools is the Learning Tower toddler step stool which boasts a sturdy and special “non tip” construction design. This stool is actually more of a platform. This stool raises little ones up to the same height as the counter top which allows them to “help” with projects like making dinner. One of the greatest things about the Learning Tower toddler step stool is that it is four-sided. It not only gives the toddlers a higher perspective but it has a railing on all sides to keep them from accidentally tumbling backwards off of the stool. The stool’s “floor” is also larger than the average toddler step stool, which affords the toddler room to walk around a little bit. It also makes a really good clubhouse if you toss a blanket over the top of it during play time.
Another “deluxe” toddler step stool is the Guidecraft Kitchen Helper The that was made with easy storage in mind, as it’s really simply to fold up and store in a small space. The Guidecraft Kitchen Helper features the same raised platform design as the Learning Tower toddler step stool. It has the four sided railing and wider “floor” which will help your miniature kitchen staffer move around with more confidence.
Toddler step stools help kids learn to do things for themselves. With a toddler step stool little ones can turn the lights on and off by themselves, they can reach the bathroom sink by themselves. This is mostly a good thing, in terms of your child’s sense of independence, but you might want to think about possibly putting the yummiest treats on an even higher kitchen shelf from now on!

Toddler Step Stools Are Practical
Published on April 7th, 2020.
One of the most practical pieces of furniture you can have in your home is a toddler step stool. For all those times you have to switch a light bulb or get to the top shelf of a closet, you need a better solution than standing on your nicely upholstered chairs and worrying that you’ll lose your balance. The best choice for these everyday tasks is a toddler step stool or step ladder.
These stools come in a variety of styles and designs to suit a range of needs. You can buy these stools made especially for kids, while other models are better suited to adults. A toddler step stool for children will typically have just one step, which gives toddlers and bigger kids the chance to step up slightly higher in order to reach a counter top or some other space without needing to ask Mom and Dad for assistance.
Depending on their various needs, adults can also go with the single-step or double-toddler step stool, or even a step ladder. If you need to reach up to high shelves in a pantry or store room, you can usually get along well with a stool that has just one step. For tasks that require you to be up much higher, like changing light bulbs, or cleaning and dusting ceiling lights or fans, a step ladder will probably be the more appropriate choice.
The medical toddler step stools that you may have seen used in your doctor’s office can also be put to use in the home. Since many of these stools are made with handrails, they are very helpful for elderly people who need to hang onto something as they walk.
Are you looking for a foldable stool that can be easily stored? Or would you rather have an attractive wooden stool that can be left out even when not in use? Your personal preference will determine the type of stool you should buy.
You may not have expected there to be so many factors to consider when looking for the right toddler step stool. Before you head out to make your purchase, know what it is that you need, do some research online to find out about the different models and styles available before heading out to pick one up.

Why do I feel so bad if my kid falls asleep on the floor instead of in his bed?
Published on January 4th, 2011.
My 15mo old started climbing out of his crib so we converted it to a toddler bed…. To say it’s ‘not working out’ is an understatement… I don’t really know if he is ready or not, but at the same time I also know that no matter how old he is, it’s not going to be an easy transition… Every night since he’s been in the toddler bed, we’ve gone in to check on him before we go to sleep, and he is passed out on the floor with his blankey… I feel so bad for some reason… He doesn’t cry and scream in there, but he must be getting out and then can’t figure out how to get back it… We’ve placed a stepping stool next to the bed hopin he’ll figure out how to get in and out, but I just feel so sad seeing him sleeping on the floor!
Anyone have any words of encouragement or advice for me? Or maybe just tell me that I’m stupid for feeling bad about that?
Yes, I do move him back to his bed before I go to bed and he does stay in there until morning, I just feel so bad thinking about him falling asleep on the floor! Poor thing!

Could I switch my 16 month old to the toddler option of her 4-in-1 crib soon?
Published on December 15th, 2010.
I’m pregnant and my daughter is in her crib. She’s almost 16 months. We have a 4-in-1 convertible crib that turns into a toddler bed, a daybed, and double bed. The sides are pretty high and don’t drop.
Here’s my problem: I’m only 5′ tall. Even before I was pregnant, I had big time troubles putting her to bed. When I lay my daughter in her crib, I have to lean my stomach completely into the front railing of the crib and rock myself forward into her crib. When I lay her down, my feet aren’t touching the floor. My feet come off the floor by about 5 inches. I’m 15 weeks pregnant now and already noticing I can’t really do that that well anymore. I’ve tried a step-stool but I’m really not keen on doing that when I’m really big, because my balance will be off.
Do you think it would be a big deal if I turned her crib into the toddler bed? There’s really not much difference between the crib and the toddler bed, just the front part comes off and is replaced with two toddler railings: one at the head and one at the foot.
http://www.tjskids.com/bily-sydney-4in1-convertible-crib-honey-p-4225.html that’s the crib.
To make a toddler bed, just imagine the only front of that crib completely removed and replaced with a little toddler rail at the head and foot of the bed. So she won’t have to get used to a whole new, big, scary bed. It’s still her crib, and will still look like her crib. The toddler bed will still be high on all the sides like her crib was except the front part, so it should still be familiar to her.
I have no worries about her getting up from her bed. She doesn’t stand up in her crib, only if If she does get out, we have an Angelcare monitor that will detect her movements in the bed. If she’s not in the bed, the monitor will sound an alarm.
I’m not thinking of putting her in just yet…just when I get so big I can’t put her in her crib anymore. By then she should be able to handle it a bit better, right? What are your thoughts? BTW, my friend’s son climbed out of his crib when he was 17 months, 2 months ago, and he’s been in a toddler bed just fine ever since.
The bed has guard rails. That’s the toddler rails I was talking about. They go pretty much the entire length of the bed, except a spot in the middle of the length of the bed to get in and out.
We won’t be using a safety gate as we have nosy cats, thanks for the suggestion though.

Once again, I am asking in this section because the section that it should have gone in is full of deadbeats that don’t like to answer stuff.

Brianna, my husband isn’t always at home at bedtime, otherwise this might not even be an issue.

What do you think of my story so far?
Published on December 10th, 2010.
I am in 11th grade and a beginning writer and I would like to know what you all think of my story (which I hope to make a book)so far. All advice is welcomed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the land of Eura all was peaceful, more peaceful than it has been for months. All was quite, so quite that you could hear the faintest step of a toddler. The sky was so clear, there was not even a cloud in sight, and the stars were so bright and so close that you could reach out and touch them. It seemed too good, to perfect to be true.
An elfin guard patrolled the outer wall of the city, eye heavy for the need for sleep. “Take a rest my friend. You deserve it.” said a fellow elfin guard. The first guard sat on a small wooden stool, “it is really a beautiful night, is it not.” The second guard gazed up at the night sky, “That it is my friend that it is.” Hours past and yet nothing happened, then the wind began to pick up and the clouds started too roll in. “So much for the beautiful night,” said the first elf and he chuckled. “There is something strange about those clouds,” said the second elf. “What do you mean?” “They are too dark for just appearing and they are moving very rapidly.” “Oh you are just paranoid. Ever since the Great War you have been on edge.” The second elf said nothing, but just kept his eye on the clouds.
The clouds fell over the city, but for some reason stopping at the city’s boundaries. Then a loud whistle like sound filled the air. Every guard searched for the source of the sound but came up unsatisfied. Then one of the elfin guards spotted a small ball of fire. The ball came hurtling from the sky, as it got closer the sound grew stronger. Eventually the sound was so loud and so intense that the guards had to cover their ears. The object came closer and closer and until it hit the outer wall, but nothing happened. The guards looked at each other and then, boom. The outer wall exploded exactly where the object hit, and in place of the wall an army appeared.
“The city is under attack,” yelled an elfin guard. “Protect the royal family,” yelled another elfin guard. Elves lined the top of the outer wall firing at the enemy down below, dwarves and goblins manned the gate trying to keep the enemy from penetrating the city, and wizards and witches stood ready if the enemy broke through the gate. “Fire, “said the general of the enemy army. Boulders and arrows of rock, steel, and fire flew over from the enemy’s side of the wall killing all in their path. The screams of the dying soldiers filled the city, everywhere bodies fell to the ground cold and lifeless. “We can no longer hold the gate. We need to retreat to the inner wall,” said the goblin general to an elf in bronze armor. “Sir, we will have a better chance at the inner wall than we do here.” The elf still did not answer he just stood there looking around as if he was looking for something. The goblin continued, “The gate will not hold for long. Sir, what do you want to do?”
Still the elf said nothing, “Sir, what are your orders. Commander.” Finally, the elf spoke “We shall retreat to the inner wall.” The goblin nodded his head, turned around, and yelled “Retreat. Retreat to the inner wall.” The elves stopped firing and ran and jumped down from the wall, the dwarves and goblins at the main gate left their post, and the wizards and witches evaporated into different color clouds of smoke. Boulders and arrows continued to fall from the sky, all the soldiers that were not crushed by boulders or shot down by arrows made in behind the safety of the inner gate.
At the outer gate the enemy threw grappling hooks over the wall, they were beating down the gate with hammers until finally the gate fell flat on the ground. The enemy army swarmed destroying everything in their sights. “The enemy has broken through our main gate,” said an elf in the watchtower. “There is no use. We are trapped. We are doomed. We must leave,” a weary goblin soldier franticly yelled. The elfin commander ran over to the goblin and shoved him against the wall. “We are not doomed and even if we are will not leave. We made a promise, a vow to protect the royal family, to give our lives for them. Now get a hold of yourself,” yelled the commander. “Your commander is right,” said a mysterious voice, “I am proud he is our commander. We shall fight till we win or we will die trying.” All turned to the source of the voice and found to their surprise it was not an ordinary solider but a blood covered King Saren.
“Your Majesty,” said the commander, “What may I ask are you doing here?” King Saren smiled, “My wife rules these lands not me. So I must do anything and everything to protect her and if that means fighting in battle then so be it.” The commander nodded. “Now we made an oath to protect my wife and daughter at all cost. I am not going to break that oath, are you.” asked King Saren. The army yelled out a no “Then we need to do everything we can to bring the enemy down. Elves get up on that wall and fire everything from regular arrows to phoenix arrows. Dwarves and goblins barricade that gate. And Wizards and witches half go up with the elves and use any and very spell you can, the rest of you stay here with me, if they break through do not hold back,” exclaimed King Saren. “Yes sir,” said the army. The elves ran, climbed, and jumped onto the wall, followed by the wizards and witches who appeared by smoke, and the dwarves and goblins took to the gate and used everything they could find to
barricade the gate.
The army was silent, the only sounds that could be heard was the sound of the enemy closing in on the inner wall. The closer they came the tighter the soldiers held their weapons then the archers began to fire and then the explosions from the spells of the witches and wizards. The sound of enemy soldier’s screams put a slimmer of hope into the army’s hearts until they reached the gate. One swing after another the gate was being destroyed. After awhile the beating stopped but the soldiers on the wall were still fighting. King Saren slowly stepped towards the splintered gate where he found a small hole, around the size of a coin.
He looked through the hole and what he saw defined reason, the enemy army had disappeared and all was there was a single man in a black hooded cloak walking up to the gate. Arrows of all kinds were flying towards this man but none of them hit the man, instead they fell to the ground, and the spells did not seem to affect the stranger.
The man looked up at the top of the wall and waved his hand and most of who were on the wall flew off, either dieing on impact with their floor or being impaled by stray objects. All those who managed to stay on the wall started to fire again, the man waved his hand over the arrows that were at his feet and then he moved his hand as if he was punching someone on the wall. The arrows rose up from the ground and flew to the soldiers up onto the wall, killing all they hit. One soldier flew from the wall and landed at the King’s feet still alive. King Saren went to the soldier’s side “He is too powerful,” said the wounded soldier as he coughed up blood. “Do not talk, save your energy,” said King Saren. “I am sorry sir, I have failed you,” the soldier said with his dying breath, and the life leaving his eyes. King Saren ran back to the door but soon backed away.
“Take cover,” yelled King Saren. The man flicked his wrist, the gate disintegrated, and then he muttered something and a giant dragon of fire appeared out of thin air.
The soldiers started to flee at the sight of the demon but it was no use. The dragon killed dozens of soldiers with it fiery breath and crushed many more underneath its gigantic feet. King Saren tried to kill the beast with his sword dodging every blow but atlas was unable to and before he could do any real damage the dragon, the dragon flung him fifty feet with his fire-filled claws. King Saren, with his legs badly burned crawled to the nearest safest place he could find.
The screams of Saren’s men being burned alive were nearly unbearable, and one by one, his soldiers fell to the ground burnt and charred. After the last soldier fell, the dragon stopped in its tracks and an evil laugh came from behind the creature.
The mysterious man who caused all this death and destruction walked through the tower of flames that was once the gate toward King Saren. “Well, well, well, the great King Saren, the best warrior and ruler of this great land. Oh I am sorry you are not the ruler, that title belongs to your wife,” said this mysterious man as he removed his cloak, the man had pale white skin and blood red snake shaped eyes.
“Richard, You are the cause of all this. But, but why,” King Saren asked. “My name is no longer Richard, that name no longer suits me, my name is Draco. And the reason why is because the crown was supposed to be mine, but you let those stupid rules, that only a female may rule, take it away from me. I am just taking back what is rightfully mine,” Draco smirked. “You will never get the crown. As long as there is a female heir, the crown will only answer to her.” “Ah yes but that is exactly who I came here for.” Draco started to head for the castle but he stopped and faced King Saren yet again. “Before I go I need to thank you for if it wasn’t for you I would not be the person I am today. In addition, to show you my appreciation I may let you live. Now I must make my leave, I have some unfinished business to attend too. Draco gazed up at the castle and turned to make his leave.
When Draco’s back was turned King Saren pulled out a dagger that he hid is his armor and tossed it at Draco, and the dagger pierced his back. Draco did not fall to his death like Saren wished but instead Draco reached for the dagger and pulled it out of his back. “Oh, you are so unwise. I wanted you to live so you could suffer with the thought that you could not save your family. I guess you shall have to die now knowing that there is nothing you can do,” Draco gloated. Draco took the dagger from his back and walked to kill Saren with his own dagger, but Saren fought back as much as he could. Draco clinched his fist and for some reason Saren could not move. “No more games, now you will die.” With that Draco slit Saren’s throat, and as Saren bleed out Draco said, “Now to go kill people I came for” With the snap of his fingers the army that had caused so much death and destruction reappeared out of nowhere. “Now to the castle,” Draco barked and the army marched towards the castle.
A man in a grey cloak appeared at Draco’s side and said with a horsed voice, “Do you think we can win this battle, my Lord” “Of coarse I will win this. What in the world will make you think I will not,” Draco hissed. “Well my Lord, the king may have been easily defeated but the queen and princess are more powerful, they have powers that the King could only dream of.. It will not be as easily to defeat them.” “Do not worry my loyal subject. I have been preparing and planning this day for many years. Ever since my first failure all those years ago, I have finally learned how to defeat the Queen Caryn and her stupid daughter, Selena,” Draco smirked.
~
Meanwhile up in the castle in the tallest tower a little girl of seven, stood on the balcony with tears rolling down her face she screamed, “Daddy.” Then the door to her room swung open and in ran a well-dressed older woman. “Selena, we have to get out of here,” yelled the woman, “Selena we need to go we can not stay here.” Selena did not move she just stood there silently crying. The woman came up to Selena and knelt down to her level. “Selena, what is the matter?” “They killed him, Mummy. They killed daddy.” Caryn’s eyes widened and she asked, “What do you mean? How do you know that?” Selena pointed to the courtyard where her father laid cold, lifeless, and blood-soaked. “Oh my goodness, Saren,” Caryn began to tear up but she held in her tears. “Selena, we have to go.” Selena nodded her head, and headed for the door but before they could even get out of the door, Selena stopped in her tracks. “Selena, what are you doing? We need to leave.”
“My necklace!”
“Selena we don’t have time.”
“It will only take a minute.” Selena climbed over her bed to her bedside table, opened the top drawer, pulled out a star shaped crystal necklace, and put it on. “Selena, we have to go, now!” Caryn yelled.
Together they ran down the hallway, with the sounds of screaming echoing through out the castle. “They are in the castle,” yelled a dwarves guard, “Stop them at all cos…” A giant blade pierced completely through the dwarf, blood poured out of the dwarf’s chest and running down his mouth. “Stupid dwarf,” snickered Draco, “Find me Queen Caryn and Princess Selena and bring them to me alive.” Draco’s army infiltrated the castle in search for the last of the family. “Sir, may I ask how you plan to kill the queen and princess,” asked the cloaked man.
That is not even part one.
What is your toddler's favorite "chore"?
Published on July 24th, 2010.
My son is 20 months and always likes to follow me around and "help" me do housework. His favorite things are dusting and cleaning windows. I give him a cloth and will spray a little "cleaner" (a separate bottle with water) and he loves to wipe it off. He also LOVES to load the washing machine. He stands on a step stool and I hand him clothes to throw in the washer. What are your toddler’s favorite chores?
When to move son into toddler/twin bed?
Published on May 23rd, 2010.
My son is 19months and still in his crib. The problem is he’s huge (not fat just solid and tall) and getting him in and out of the crib is pretty hard on my back. I’m short and using a step stool to help me out.
He doesn’t climb out of the crib and sleeps really well in it the only thing is he sleeps all around it, not just on one side.
what should i do?
